Let’s be real: some agents forget they even have a website. But have you ever wondered what that’s really costing you?
Missed Opportunities Are Easy to Overlook
One of the things I do for new clients is track down their websites and social media accounts so I can add them to their custom Property Websites. And you’d be surprised—so many agents haven’t touched their websites or social media in ages. What does that mean for you?
Imagine a potential buyer wants to get in touch. If your only online presence is through sites like Zillow or REALTOR.com, your contact info might be minimal—or worse, broken or missing entirely. In today’s world, especially with younger buyers who want to check out who they’re working with, not having a live, professional site (or having broken links) sends the wrong message. It can make you seem out of touch—or even like you just don’t care. How many leads have slipped away without you ever knowing?
Why Does Your Online Presence Matter?
It’s easy to assume the big listing sites will handle everything and send business your way. And maybe that worked in the past. But today, buyers and sellers are searching the web before they ever pick up the phone. Your online presence is often your first impression—and it’s absolutely crucial to your ongoing success.
Not Sure Where to Start?
Here are some quick, actionable steps to take control of your online presence:
Make sure your information is consistent and current. Ask your website provider about updates, and make sure your listings and contact info are up to date everywhere.
Google yourself. What do you see? Is it relevant? Is your business easy to find?
Check your social media. Log into your old Instagram, Facebook, or TikTok accounts. Set up dedicated business pages—they’re quick to make and help your listings get noticed (especially if you’re posting videos from Brownell Design Studios—just saying!).
Review your website. Is it still live? Does it look current? If you no longer want a site, make sure any old links (on profiles or listing sites) are removed so you don’t lose credibility with broken links or dead pages.
Claim your Google Business Profile. If you haven’t set this up yet, it only takes a few minutes and helps people find you in search results.
Your First Impression Matters—Make It Count
Building your reputation online is just as important as in person. It takes a little effort now, but it’s worth it. And don’t forget: every Brownell Design Studios package includes a custom Property Website, so you always have a professional online presence for every listing. Plus, if you work with us regularly, we’ll keep a page updated with all your current and past listings completed with us—making it easy for clients to see your work, all in one place, without the hassle or extra cost of a full website.
